My view: The PATENT Act poses great threat to inventors
A recent article appearing in the Deseret News outlines why current patent reform proposals in Congress are bad for inventors:
“I am writing this to express how deeply troubled I am by harmful patent legislation that is currently before the U.S. Congress. The PATENT Act (S 1137) and the Innovation Act (HR 9) both pose a grave threat to independent inventors, such as myself. For the sake of supporting America’s inventors, lawmakers must consider the hazards of advancing these two bills.
The PATENT Act and the Innovation Act represent an attack on the rights of small inventors. As an inventor of unique and innovative audio equipment myself, I rely heavily on the strong intellectual property rights afforded to me by the U.S. patent system. However, these two bills stand to dramatically change the patent system that inventors now enjoy.”
