USI STATEMENT ON THE NOMINATION OF ANDREI IANCU TO BE USPTO DIRECTOR

ALEXANDRIA, Va., August 29, 2017 – US Inventor President Paul Morinville released the following statement regarding President Trump’s nomination of Andrei Iancu to be Director of the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office:

I am cautiously optimistic about President Trump’s nomination of Andrei Iancu to be the new director of the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. Mr. Iancu’s positions on software and business method patenting are thoughtful and informed, and I believe his experience on both sides of intellectual property litigation will provide balance to his positions.

“US Inventor believes that patents are property rights and not public entitlements. We believe Mr. Iancu is experienced in understanding this fundamental concern. It is our hope that Mr. Iancu manages the Patent Trial and Appeal Board and constructs his Federal Circuit and Supreme Court arguments with this constitutionally consistent perspective in mind.”
